0 Quick Apply 1 day ago Full Job Description Descripion The Clinic Reception/Insurance Specialist position will preform verification of insurance information, prior authorizations and facilitate the resolution of problems to ensure a clean billing process for appointments and procedures, and will follow-up on accounts that require further assessment.
The position will work closely with the public, answering phones, scheduling appointments and registering patients.
The position works in a team environment with clinic reception, clinical staff and providers.
They will report to the Clinic Reception Supervisor.

Responsibilities:
Understands, promotes, and follows the Mission and Guiding Values of the Petersburg Medical Center.
Assures quality care and patient-centered services through following resposibilites:
Reviews schedule for appointments requiring eligibility checks and prior authorizations.
Verifies insurance eligibility for upcoming appointments by utilizing online websites or by contacting insurance companies directly.
Contacts VA to follow up on authorization requests and/or amend them.
Maintains patient demographics information in the electronic health record system.
Participates in development of PMC policies and procedures and update forms and manuals as needed.
Answers questions from patients, reception, clinic staff and insurance companies.
Maintains a professional and calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment, adheres to all confidentiality standards, HIPPA guidelines and regulations.
Is cross trained as the receptionist in the front desk position, answering the phones, scheduling appointments and registering patients.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Medical terminology and 2-3 years experience in healthcare preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and overall computer systems and skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including editing and proofreading to ensure a high quality of communication and documentation.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude, good judgment and decision-making skills, a sense of urgency, initiative, responsiveness and attention to detail.
Able to be a team player and show a willingness to step in and help out.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Strong work ethic and dependability.
